Thermal modification permanently changes the cell structure of the Hemlock, removing moisture and resins and giving strong resistance to rot, decay and insects. The vertical grain cut keeps boards flat and gives continuous straight lines with a smooth, even texture that takes stains and finishes well, from exterior rainscreens to interior commercial ceilings.
