Barnwood types
Weathered or mushroom board
Weathered barnwood siding from America’s heartland, or mushroom board reclaimed from the mushroom houses of the Northeast.
Weathered
Sun, rain and snow over generations. Widths 4-10 in., lengths 3-12 ft, thickness 3/8 to 1 in. Grey, brown and black tones.
Mushroom board
Enzymes from growing mushrooms etch away soft fibre, leaving deep texture and a dark brown patina. 4-10 in. wide, 3-12 ft long.
The barnwood range
Seven reclaimed products from America’s barns and outbuildings, each graded, metal-detected, kiln-dried and milled in Southern California.
Northeastern mushroom houses
Mushroom board
Used as a substrate for growing mushrooms, these boards were slowly etched by enzymes until only the hard fibre remained, leaving an extremely textured surface and a dark brown patina unlike any other wood. Widths 4-10 in., lengths 3-12 ft, thickness 3/8 to 1/2 in.
America's heartland
Weathered barnwood
Weathered by generations of sunlight, rain and snow, each siding board tells its own story. Colours vary from cool grey to warm brown and rich black, and no two planks are identical, which is why it outperforms faux or engineered paneling on any feature wall.
Barn interiors
Reclaimed brown board
Reclaimed from the inside of historic barns, protected from the weather and aged to a warm coffee-brown. Nail holes, circle-saw marks and generations of wear, usually in Oak and Hickory. Widths 3-10 in., lengths 3-16 ft, thickness 3/8 to 3/4 in. Ideal for accent walls, paneling and ceilings.
Iron-oxide painted
Antique red barnwood
Since America’s founding, farmers protected their barns with iron-oxide paint, and the red barn became Americana. Our red barnwood keeps every nail hole and saw mark, in hues from deep reddish brown to vermilion. Widths 2-10 in., lengths 3-10 ft, thickness 3/8 to 1 in.
Sun-silvered
Silverwood
Naturally silvered by generations of sun, milled to 1/2 in. boards in mixed 3-5 in. widths and 18-46 in. lengths, packed 10 sq ft to the box with a lifetime warranty. See the Silverwood page for full specs.

red barnwood
Iron oxide and iconic Americana
Since America’s founding, farmers have painted their barns with naturally occurring iron oxide. Iron oxide, also known as rust, was an inexpensive, readily available paint that early farmers used to protect and preserve their barns. Now we associate red barns with iconic Americana.
Our Red Barnwood features all the character that comes with generations of sheltering early farmers’ livestock, complete with nail holes and saw marks. Hues vary from a deep reddish brown to vibrant vermillion. Bring history into your home with our Antique Red Barnwood.
