Panaget French Oak is charecterized by a tighter, more intricate and delicate grain pattern. The wood is also “creamier” and more “buttery” in color versus the slightly more mixed hues often found in other European Oak floors. Shrunken Knot floors have a long history in Europe and are considered one of the most sophisticated floors. The processing of the top veneer or lamella is very unique and very different when compared to mass production floors sold in our marketplace. Shrunken Knot floors have a unique surface due to the way the lamella is processed. Human hand scraping and carving cannot duplicate the natural looks of aged and worn down wood floors. Artificial effects done by human hand with tooling to carve raised knots and sunken spots, take away the beauty of natural defects in wood. Shrunken Knot process allows the lamella the time to naturally dry and shrink, and the results are very beautiful and natural looking surface with raised knots and sunken spots. Our mill is not a high volume producer thus we can exercise tedious old techniques, to create Shrunken Knot flooring. We allow seasoning and drying steps to take its course creating undulations, raised and sunken surfaces as intently done by nature.

We produce 3 types of Shrunken Knot floor: EALD WOOD: The surface is medium wire brushed with consistent kerfs. The kerfs are the effect of band saw cutting of the lamella. PARISIAN: Lightly wire brushed, with sporadic kerfs. BUCKINGHAM: Lightly wire brushed, with almost no kerf. Clearing the lamella surface with high speed blades gives this floor unique clarity after finishing. Floors with any of the surfaces described above, combined with raised knots and sunken natural defects, are considered sophisticated and highly artistic wood floors in Europe. This type of craftsmanship is forgotten in America as we are known for high volume and mid range priced markets. The lightly wire brushed Parisian and Buckingham come polished and ready for on job site finishing. These reduce time consuming, troublesome, and dusty processes. We are bringing back the old and beautiful European craftsmanship inexpensively. Size : 3/4″ X 8.66″ X 4 Ft. to 10 Ft. Mixed Lengths — Lamella thickness: 6.0 mm Tally : 10 Ft. — 50% , the rest are (4’+ 6′) or (5’+5′). Each bundle has at least 1 pc. of 10 Ft. Available in unfinished or prefinished.
